Streetfinds is an exhibition of some 150 books, images and objects collected in the streets of Berlin, between the Neukölln and Treptow boroughs, during the Covid-19 lockdown in January and February 2021.

What books and images are circulating in the streets? What do these recirculated objects, put into the public space of a city and its communities—including immigrant communities—tell us, and what about the expiration of their meaning? Made up of objects, photographs, videos and re-compositions from found material, the installation is also an exercise in examining the collective imagination of a country or city, the psyche of a given community, through the covers of books circulating within it—both as graphical and cultural vectors, and as media reappropriated by their owners (with handwritten notes, collages in books, etc.). Streetfinds is about the spontaneous recirculating of books and images in the street, rather than throwing them away, and how this phenomenon paints a polyphonic landscape traversed by multiple thematic threads (symbols and language, politics, the power of images, graphic design, numbers and abstraction).

This exhibition is presented as part of Lire notre monde – Strasbourg UNESCO 2024 World Book Capital, along with two other exhibitions Livres d’images (October 2024 to February 2025) and La Bibliothèque de Brautigan (March to June 2025).
