When they were invited by the CEAAC under the ‘Mission de territoire – arts visuels’ programme supported by the Région Grand Est from 2023 to 2025, Duo -Y- decided to dedicate their residency time to researching votive springs and telluric sites in Alsace, the Vosges and Moselle.
Over a period of two years, the duo used Strasbourg and Meisenthal as their home base to travel the region and tap into the knowledge of local dowsers and fire touchers. Their work considers the geological, historical, energetic and symbolic layers that make a place become a site of pilgrimage, devotion or miraculous healing.
The exhibition Mirage is the culmination of this research. It lends a material form to the spiritual practices of the region through a series of works created with the help of numerous ‘artisans of the invisible’, transforming the CEAAC into a space for somatic, magical and aesthetic experiences.
Duo -Y-’s residency and exhibition were supported by the ‘Mission de territoire – arts visuels’ programme of the Région Grand Est.
The exhibition is co-produced with the non-profit organisation co-op, Uhart-Cize, and the art centre image/imatge, Orthez.
In collaboration with Manufacture and musée Saint-Louis.

The exhibition is part of the cooperation project l’Ill. Une collaboration avec la rivière entre le CRAC Alsace, Altkirch, la Kunsthalle, Mulhouse et le CEAAC, Strasbourg, made possible by the “Mieux produire, mieux diffuser” scheme of the French Ministry of Culture and supported by the Région Grand Est.
