Julie Béna (b. 1982 in Paris) lives and works between Paris and Prague. She graduated from Villa Arson (Nice) in 2007 and went on to study at Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In 2012–13 she joined Pavillon Neuflize OBC, Palais de Tokyo’s creative laboratory programme. Most recently, her work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Fondation Pernod Ricard, Paris (2022); Villa Arson, Nice (2021); Kunstverein Bielefeld and Kunstraum, London (2020); and Jeu de Paume, Paris, Capc Musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux and Musée Amparo, Puebla (Mexico) (2019). She has created and directed numerous performances, including at Centre Pompidou, Paris; ICA, London; M Leuven, Louvain (Belgium); Palais de Tokyo, Paris; and Performa, New York. She is represented by Polansky Gallery in Prague and Nicoletti Contemporary in London.
