At the beginning of the 2000s, the CEAAC started setting up a worldwide network of foreign partnerships. Through this international program, local artists are offered the chance to go to a foreign country for a duration of one to three months while they are supported for their artistic projects by structures comparable to the CEAAC. Likewise, the CEAAC welcomes foreign artists in residency in Strasbourg and encourages them to discover the contemporary art scene, to cooperate with local artists or arts organisations, and to undertake projects accessible to a wider audience.
Within this framework, the artists benefit from an accomodation, a studio, living / production grants, and a roundtrip airfare.
While working on their projects during the residency, the artists have access to the CEAAC’s administrative and human support as well as contacts within the local art scene. The CEAAC also gives them a chance to present their work publicly in the form of an open studio event, a publication or an exhibition at the CEAAC International Space.
Since 2009, the International Space has been located inside the CEAAC Art Center itself. Covering 70m2, it displays six exhibitions a year on its two floors, giving a greater visibility to the residents artistic projects and to the emerging international art scene.
